Supervalu Job losses in Kilkeel

Local Ulster Unionist Party MLA, John McCallister has described the latest job losses in Supervalu Kilkeel as "Another massive blow for the South Down economy"

Speaking from Stormont, Mr McCallister said "This is something that the Mourne community could seriously do without. The news on the employment front seems to be going from bad to worse, so the Stormont executive needs to look to radical ways to boost the economy. They need to do more to encourage entrepreneurship and create green economy projects."

He continued by saying " My UUP Advice Centre has been inundated with constituents confused and fearful for their financial future, and I am continuing to work with local industries and employees to ensure this unfortunate period of economic change can be managed with the necessary support for all concerned. Northern Ireland has a highly skilled workforce and it's up to the Stormont executive to ensure the jobs are created to match local potential. This is essential, now more than ever."
