McCallister slams Post Box Thieves

South Down Ulster Unionist MLA John McCallister has described the theft of a Post Box from the Ardaragh Road, Rathfriland last week as disgraceful and deeply worrying.

Speaking after he visited the scene with local residents, Mr McCallister said

"I am absolutely appalled that criminals like these can have the audacity to steal a Post Box in such a quiet rural neighbourhood. These people do not realise how their disgraceful actions can affect such a wide area. Local residents use this post box regularly if they were not going into town, and now face a journey of several miles to post their mail."

"This Post Box has been there a very long time without being disturbed, but it only takes one idiot to take it. What deeply worries me is the amount of money people are willing to pay for something like this, so I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact the police."
